Wild Wajima!

The men of Wajimazaki, a tiny yet wild and proud fishing community, on Aug. 25 each year don their nicest formal garments and no shoes to drag the flame from shrine to sea, along with a portable shrine carrying the god, where they light a massive torch and cast it into the sea. Witnessed at least two brawls along the way!
